A Zaki-Biam based business man, Chief Benjamin Bemgba Pevkyaa Zegi, hosted prominent traditional singer, Mr Solomon Iornem, JP, at the second anniversary of his late father’s death.

The host is the third son of the Tiv folksong legend, Pevkyaa Zegi, who passed on and was laid to rest on 30th November, 2018.

The late Zegi’s family and patrons thereafter, set aside the end of November every year for an annual song festival to commemorate his outstanding entertainment career.

The event took place at the LGED Primary School, Manger, near Zaki-Biam, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The host stated that he specially invited Mr Iornem, JP, to the 2020 event to express appreciation to him in the presence of his family and friends for the positive characterization of his late father in his songs.

He said he fell in love with the songs of Mr Solomon Iornem, JP, President of the Association of Tiv Traditional Singers, because they present the true nature of his father.

Solomon JP, as he is popularly known, performed throughout the evening of 29th November until the early hours of the next day when the occasion came to a close.

The host and other dignitaries appreciated by pasting cash on his forehead and those of his companions during the performance, after which a live cow was presented to him at the occasion.
