Skal international partners with Turkish government to promote tourism and business between Nigeria and Turkey.
Skal International, an Association of Tourism Professionals which comprise of Chief Executives Owners, Hoteliers, Travel Agencies, Airlines among others, come together to promote each other’s business, as they believed that business is what joins them together.
Speaking at the induction and presentation of certificates to it’s new members, the President of Skal International and Chief Executive Officer of Orit Travel and Tours, Julie Tongrit said the gesture is to help Nigerians learn to do the right things that would promote Tourism, as according to her,
“Turkey has a lot to offer in terms of Tourism, Turkey is one of the destinations that you go and want to go again due to it’s reach in Tourism” she said.
“Now that Nigeria is partnering with Turkey, it can give us both ways that can develop each other, Turkey is already well developed as you are aware, while Nigeria is still struggling with Tourism but we are sure going to learn from Turkey because we are still learning how to go about to get to that level where people can come from every part of the world to come and holiday in Nigeria”. She noted.
Skal international believes that the collaboration will also help Nigerians to learn to put their Tourism facilities in the right perspective in order to invite people to come Nigeria due to its Tourist’s attractions.
“It might take a while but I want to assure you that learning from the experience of Turkey, Nigeria will move forward in terms of Tourism”. She assured.
While expressing displeasure over the decay of Tourism facilities in Nigeria, she explained that people come for Tourism trips in Nigeria and not satisfy with the services, she said on their part in Skal International, they try to advise facility owners to upgrade up to international standard, most especially the hotels which will enable the comfort of the tourists.
The President of Skal International however called on the government the necessary amenities that will attract tourism in order to attain global practice.
“Apart from the fact that we bring in people to come and holiday here, they need infrastructure, security, they need all that is required for Tourism”
“We understand that a country like Nigeria has challenges but once she provides basic amenities and other things that a tourist would require, we will be there”. She noted.
On his part part, the Ambassador to Turkey in Nigeria, who doubles as the special guest of honour at the occasion, Ahmed Melih Ulueren noted that the partnership will provide an opportunity for Turkey to invite Nigerians to Turkey to enjoy historical nature gifts of Turkey, According to him,he observed that the relationship between Nigeria and Turkey are improving on daily process, as he was at the occasion to contribute to the process.
