The Director Clothing and Stores, Army Headquarters, Department of Army Logistics, Brigadier General Henry Wesley has charged the troops of Guards Brigade to enhance their physical fitness, psychological, mental alertness towards discharging their duty professionally and diligently.
Wesley made the call while speaking in the occasion of inter-unit drill competition held in Abuja.
He said, “ this drill competition will enhance your performance as Guards Brigade troops and also endear the confidence of the civil populace in order to actualize the Chief of Army Staff vision “to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles”
He described the performances of the troops as being impressive, saying the soldiers have displayed attractive and physical skills as well as ingenuity into the exercise.
Earlier in his remarks the Commander Guards Brigade Brigadier General Umar Musa said the Drill competition in Nigerian Army is critical in improving the troofs proficiency in the conduct of their military carrier.
General Musa said the exercise is also typical of producing a vibrant soldier who is alert, confident and discipline which provide the basis for team work, and espirit de- corps amongst the officers and soldiers.
Over 192 soldiers participated in this annual event with 4 units each headed by a unit parade commander and 48 soldiers.
The panel of Judges were drawn from the Nigerian Defence Academy to access the general appearance of troops which include performance, general conduct, neatness, amongst others.
