Saraki save Buhari from impeachment notice

President Muhammadu Buhari was saved from being served an impeachment notice by some senators on Thursday, April 26.

The Senate President and the Senate Leader intervened in the call for impeachment which was made by Senator Mathew Uroghide.

Bukola Saraki referred the motion to Judiciary and Legal Committee for advice based on the submission of Senator Na’allah.

Media reports said during the plenary on Thursday, April 26, members of the Senate called for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari over $496 million unapproved spending on 12 Tucano aircraft.

The call for the impeachment was cited in a motion raised by a Senator representing Delta south Mathew Uroghide and seconded by Senator Chukwuma Utazi.

However, the call for the president’s impeachment suffered a setback when the Senate president Bukola Saraki and the deputy Senate leader Ibn Bala Na’allah intervened.

The Senate President while speaking on Uroghide’s point of order referred the motion to Judiciary and Legal Committee for advice based on the submission of Senator Na’allah.
