Representative Bamidele Salam is named as the Grand Patron of the Students’ parliament of San Francesco Catholic College, Ejigbo, Osun state.

Rep. Salam who is representing the good people of Ede north, Ede south, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun state accepted the request and is to be installed at the College premises on Saturday, 26th June, 2021.

An authentication letter from the College Principal, Rev. Sr. Henrietta Eziashi narrated that Rep. Salam was chosen based on his reputation and resounding achievements.

Part of the letter reads:
“It is indeed a pleasure to write to you to authenticate the humble request of my Students, Members of the Students’ Parliament, as their Grand Patron as a role model and source of inspiration.

“My approval of their desire and choice to make you their backbone came at the first glance of the idea because your reputation and resounding achievements precedes you as a successful individual and the special role God has entrusted you.

“It will interest you to know that for us at San Francesco Catholic College, Ejigbo, education is seen as a preparatory ground for the future. We believe the guarantee of a better tomorrow is predicated on the quality of education, guidance and mentorship given to the younger ones who are the future of tomorrow. Therefore, it is imperative to introduce to Students, young as they are, to the rudiment of good governance and politics that put humanity and good of all in mind.

“These students cut across several age grades and geo-political zones in the country. They are individual with great potentials and are highly motivated, who with proper mentorship and upbringing will become great leaders in the future.

“I, therefore, humbly ask that you consider their request and help nurture, build and prepare these little ones for the promising roles in the future”.

Speaking in similar vein, Hon. Pade-Omishakin A. Oreoluwa, the Speaker of the Parliament and Mr. Olojede Ibidapo Joseph, the coordinating teacher explained that the College has deem it fit to create a students parliament as a deliberate step to bring about a “breeding ground for future leaders, politicians and true agents of change within and beyond our great country, Nigeria, noting that it might not be possible without laying a solid foundation.

“As young ones, your examples, your achievements, successes and excellent pursuits in life give us hope that we can look up to you as our pillar, our father and our mentor.

“We humbly request that you accept our choice of having you be our Grand Patron as we continue this great task of building ourselves to becoming great future leaders”, they said.

As Grand Patron and Beacon of Hope to the students, Rep. Salam is further requested to embark on mentorship, guidance and exposition to the world of true politics where they can meet people of good political reputation, organizations both local and international.

The parliament is also interested in paying yearly courtesy visits on Rep. Salam as well as requested him to wholly or partly finance it’s annual budgets and projects.
