The National President of the Prisons Officers Wives’ Association (PROWA) Hajiya Gwamma Ja’afaru has said better welfare package for teachers, provision of quality learning facilities, among others is her priority in her administration.
Speaking in the unveiling of 4th Phase of Prisons Staff School – PSS Abuja, Hajiya Ja’afaru said the building is in fulfilment of the promises when she took the mantle of leadership since two years ago.

“The project is a fulfillment of a promise made by my administration upon assumption of office as National PROWA President in September 2016.
“A promise to leave Prisons Staff School better than we met it.
“A promise to ensure an enabling environment for the sustainable growth of quality and affordable education for all children of officers and men of the Nigerian Prisons Service”.
“A promise to ensure that our children are not left behind in this era when the global overall policy thrust is to provide unhindered access to compulsory Universal Basic Education to all citizens”.
According to Gwamma, under her leadership, the school had undergone numerous major and landmark internal changes to making sure the children gets better services from their teachers.
Other projects executed by the administration include, setting up School Library, provision of facilities in Science, Home Economics and Computer laboratories.
She said she has also facilitated the approval of the Quality Assurance Department of the FCT Ministry of Education for all the subjects run by the school.
“I am happy to let you know that we can now write these national examinations right here in Prisons Staff School Abuja. As a matter of fact, for the very first time in the history of this school our students are presently writing the on-going Junior Secondary Examination in the school premises”.
“So what we are celebrating here today is not just an ordinary incidence of chance. It is the product of much efforts, sacrifice, dedication and commitment to bequeath a legacy to the future generation of the Prisons Service”. She said.
She thank the commitment and support of President Muhammadu Buhari,and the Controller General of Prisons Ahmed Ja’afaru.
In his remark, the Controller General of Prisons Ahmed Ja’afaru said his education was one of his focal point of his administration hence his performance earned him an award from UNESCO.
He therefore promised to redouble his efforts in the provision of basic needs in educational sector.
The new storey building was named after the CGP Ahmed Ja’afaru.
The event was characterised with the presentation of drama series by the pupils of the school as well as presentation of an outstanding performance award to the PROWA president, Hajiya Gwamma Ja’afaru by the pupils.
