The Provost of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre Prof. Adesoji Adesugba has been appointed as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

Adesoji Adesugba, Professor of Business Administration, and the Chairman of the Education Committee of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) joins a global network of 30,000 people who support the RSA’s mission to “enrich society through ideas and action”.

Prospective fellows of the RSA can apply for membership; others are recommended or elected.

Being awarded a Fellowship is considered an honour, and indicates significant standing in established society in 80 countries including, Great Britain, Nigeria, Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Fellows must have demonstrated a high level of achievement related to the arts, manufacturing, and commerce.

Professor Adesugba’s research has ranged over different contemporary subjects in investment promotion, gemology, skills, and technical vocational education.

His resent works include how to improve the gemstones sector of the Nigerian economy, a study which led to his founding the first gemological institute in West Africa, the Gemological Institute of Nigeria (GIN). He has published various works in gemology, investment promotion, education, and corporate governance.

When contacted, Professor Adesugba said: “It is a great honour to be given an RSA Fellowship, and I am eternally grateful. The RSA is known to provide leadership in over 80 countries for various humanitarian projects, and I hope to be involved in some of these initiatives in developing countries, especially to do with the training of young entrepreneurs and the useful engagement of youths in commercial activities in order to improve their employability as well as contribute towards the global economy.”
