
The Osun State Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has assured victims of the fire incident that occured at the popular market in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital.
A section of the market located at the heart of Osogbo, close to the Palace Square of the state capital, was gutted by fire early on Tuesday with goods worth several millions of naira destroyed.
The Governor-Elect, who was represented by the state caretaker committee chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle promised the fire victims of adequate support to ameliorate their loss.
According to the chairman, the delegation embarked on the visit at the instance of Senator Ademola Adeleke, to have a first hand assessment of the damage caused by the fire, as well as share in the pains of the victims of the unfortunate disaster.
Dr Akindele explained that the ancient market was not meant to serve members of the PDP alone, but that of inhabitants of the ancient town and beyond. He therefore expressed heartfelt sympathy of the Governor-Elect and that of the PDP in the State to everyone who are deeply affected by the devastating effect of the fire outbreak.
Dr Akindele further assured that rebuilding of the market would receive prompt attention as soon as the PDP government takes effect, with adequate financial assistance to the affected traders.
He enjoined the market association to continue to support and pray for the success of the coming administration of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
Members of the market association through their spokesperson, Alhaji Irorun, expressed gratitude to the Governor-Elect and the PDP in the state for their timely show of support in what was described as a very difficult time in the history of the market.
He especially described Senator Adeleke as an exceptionally empathic leader, who deserves further support of the traders. He prayed God to continue to guide the Governor-Elect aright in his new task as leader of the state.
On the Entourage of Dr Akindele were the State Caretaker Secretary, Otunba Femmy Carrena, PDP House of Representatives Candidate for Osogbo- Olorunda- Irepodun- Orolu Federal Constituency, Alhaji Maruf Adewale ‘Gangaria’, House of Assembly Candidates for Osogbo and Olorunda State constituencies, Hon Lawal Bamidele and Hon Laide Ajibola respectively.
Also in attendance were a prominent son of Osogbo and Frontline PDP leader in the ancient city, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, Hon Hamzat Ademola Nurudeen and Hon Asimiyu Ajibola, both of who are Olorunda and Osogbo PDP Caretaker Committee Chairmen respectively special adviser on political matters to the state Caretaker Chairman, Hon Benjamin Olumekun, amongst others.
