NUAB will not tolerate social vices, COAS assures

The Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Tukur Buratai said the Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB) will not tolerate any acts of indiscipline such as cultism, activism, strikes, protest and other untold acts of activities from both the staff and students within the institution.

Gen. Buratai stated this while presenting certificate of appointment to the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the NAUB ,Prof. David Iliya Malgwi in Abuja.

COAS who is the chairman Transitional Governing Council of NAUB maintained that even though the Institution is a military establishment with a conventional setting the university will not condoned those vices that are detrimental to the development of the society.

He further said the university is “envisioned to serve as a solution center for technological and operational problems of the Nigerian Army, military and the nation at large”.

The Army boss said the university is to develop a capacity of her students to compete professionally and responsibly with other armies in the world.

He therefore charged on the Biu Emirate council, North East and eminent Nigerians to provide both human and material resources to the development of the university.

In his acceptance speech, VC of NAUB, Prof. David Iliya Malgwi said he would work on the capacity in good faith.

He enumerated the achievements recorded by the university under his watch to include the admission and matriculation of over 1000 students in five faculties, employment of over 500 academic and non academic staff, reception of silver, bronze medals in the competition held at African Universities Olympics in Cairo, Egypt among others.

Recall that Prof. Malgwi was appointed as the VC in 2nd Oct. 2018. The university was since been given approval for it’s establishment by the Federal Executive Council in 3rd April, 2018.
