Neymar could be banned for Champions League final

Paris Saint-Germain megastar Neymar could be forced to watch the Champions League final from isolation.

Neymar put in a heroic performance to help Paris Saint-Germain reach the Champions League final for the first time in the club’s history, but he could end up being banned for the big game. The Sun reports that he could face a mandatory one-game ban after breaching UEFA rules regarding Covid-19 protocol.

Neymar had a match to remember on Tuesday night against RB Leipzig, despite squandering an early chance.

The Brazilian created numerous chances for his team-mates, and set up Angel Di Maria’s goal to make it 1-0.

He had a chance to kill off the game when the score was already 3-0, but fell while controlling a pass from Kylian Mbappe.

After the game, however, he might have committed his biggest error of the night.

After celebrating with his team-mates, BT Sport cameras picked up footage of him swapping shirts with Marcel Halstenberg of RB Leipzig.

According to UEFA Covid-19 guidelines, players are prohibited from swapping shirts in order to limit the risk of the virus spreading.

The UEFA ‘Return to Football’ guidelines state that any player swapping shirts could end up being banned for a game.

Reports also suggest the player in question would end up being placed in a mandatory 12 day isolation period.

And with the final being played this coming Sunday, Neymar would be unavailable if UEFA choose to punish him.

After the game, Neymar posted an emotional message to his Instagram page, having never got past the last 16 with PSG before.

The Brazilian forward has suffered from injury in his only two other seasons at the Parc des Princes, having missed last year’s game with Manchester United with a foot injury and the season before’s game with Real Madrid after breaking his metatarsal.

Neymar posted three images, the first two of him on the floor injured in previous seasons, and the third with him on the floor celebrating after the Leipzig win.
