Contrary to talks by Bayern Munich legend and executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s that Manuel Neuer is set to sign a new contract with Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, Neuer has provided a fresh angle to things, claiming that no such moves have been made as discussions are still ongoing.
The Bayern Munich number 1 shot-stopper has a contract that ends in 2021 and Bayern are keen to see him extend the contract but contract renewal have become tense and ultimately halted.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper last month denied reports claiming that he demanded a €20 million per annum deal and voiced his distaste that details from the talks had been leaked to the media.
Although Rummenigge noted that talks have resumed and a deal should be secured, Neuer gives a contradictory report on the situation of things.
Speaking with Goal.com he says:
“I think Karl-Heinz Rummenigge knows what’s going on. There is nothing to announce at the moment.
“There is no ultimatum. It is not necessary to make such a decision at the moment.
“We are both optimistic, of course, but it is still not clear at all.”
