…says it will hamper productivity
The Executive Chairman, National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), Engineer Ahmed Kadi Amshi FNSE has advised Federal lawmakers to see the legislative aides as partners in progress towards the success of their tenure in the National Assembly.
Kadi made this statement at the backdrop of frequent sack of Legislative Aides by members of the National Assembly, saying efforts should be made towards exhausting all forms of disciplinary measures before relieving them of their appointements.
The Executive Chairman says the Commission invested a lot of tax payers money in the trainings and retrainings of Legislative Aides, therefore counter productive when people with such wealth of experience are shown the way out.
He also said legislative aides are trained year in year out, to adapt to the intricacies and job schedules of Federal lawmakers, so as to contribute to the developement of the country’s democratic practices.
Engr Kadi frown at the situation were legislative aides trained on the workings of the job, are unceremoniously thrown out, not minding the magnitude of their offences.
“We have given our bureacratic advises on the need to take precautionary measures while taken decisions on erring legislative aides.
“The Commission invested so much in the legislative aides through in-depth training to know the dos and donts, and the demands of their offices’
“Arbitrary sack of our legislative aides, may not achieve any positive results, as those replaced with the train ones may not perform to the expectations of the lawmakers.
“Our advisory roles deserve a second thought,as the positive consequences trascends the negative side of arbitrary removal of legislative aides’
“Because, the replaced ones are not trained, therefore to whom much is given, much is expected,vice-versa”.
Engineer Kadi also expect the Legislative Aides to conduct themselves according to the lay down procedures and to the expectations of each and every Lawmaker.
He says those who indulge in any untoward activities deserve to be weed out,to avoid any backlash and other needless tendencies.
