Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Retired Para-military Organisation (NARPO) has commended the Federal Government for the improvements in the Administration of Pensions and the treatment of pensioners.
Prof. Adesugba who stated this at the End of Year Party of NARPO held at Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) also but I had pleaded with the government to improve on the amount paid to pensioners some who earn as low as three thousand naira a month.
The Special Guest of Honor Dr. Bukhari Bello is also the Chairman of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) said that the Constitutional provision for reviewing pensions every 5 years should be looked at seriously by all state governments.
He admonished state governments to emulate the Federal Government in the improvement of pension administration.
He said taking care of the elderly and pensioners was a noble activity and thanked the NARPO executive for their programs.
The following people were giving awards by NARPO at the occasion:
Late President, Dr. Adewale Oloyede – Post humous Award of Excellent Leadership; Dr. Bukhari Bello MNI, Chairman Federal Road – Safety Commission; High Chief Emeka Obegolu Esq. President of the Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) and Mrs. Titilayo Ibe, Retired Assistant Controller General of Prisons.
The representative of the FRSC Corp Marshal Mr. A.O. Ibezim lauded NARPO for the recognition given to the service and said that all service men will one day retire.
According to him what NARPO was doing for the welfare of retirees was commendable.
He advocated that retirees from the FRSC, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence and the Federal Fire Service should immediately join NARPO.
