Someone asked me last night, why did you choose such a low profession as teaching? Why don’t you come here so I can get you something better to do? This came from a ‘money miss road’. Well, I chose to respond on my timeline to educate most of you out there who also think teaching is a low profession.
Being a teacher has given me the opportunity to touch and shape the lives of children.
I have the ability to pass knowledge and be understood. Thus, I have good communication skills as a teacher.
I have the opportunity to correct a child, even yours, when he/she goes the wrong way. I discipline the child and at the same time impart knowledge on why the path they followed was wrong. This is another way of touching the lives of children positively.
I have my job satisfaction. This is one best part of being a teacher aside the good pay. There is a lot of time and space which allows me to approach every day with a new sense of direction.
As a teacher, I get to be a role model. This means that the children of a lot of parents will get to take many decisions in their lives based on what they see me do and hear me say. Students are more likely to obey their teachers than they obey their parents. This may seem like a burden but I take it as an advantage. This is because I get to have the opportunity to guide a life on the right path. My students are better off getting the right information from me than from an unreliable source.
My being a teacher means that by shaping the lives of my students positively, I am shaping the future and making the world a better place. The presidents, senators, congress men, ministers and ambassadors of the world were all students. The credits of who they’ve become go to their teachers.
Because I want to impart knowledge as a teacher, I get to be creative. Besides creating room for flexibility, teaching enables me to tailor my message in any way of my choice as long as it is well comprehended.
As a teacher, I am a parent to many. My students love and look up to me as a parent. The bonds that teachers and students share is a special one that cannot be broken even with time.
My job can be exhausting just like every other job, but what makes it different is that it comes with passion.
I may not always have a holiday or enough sleep at night, but reading numerous books builds my vocabulary and educate me on various topics. At least, as a teacher, I am proud to say that I know a little of everything.
My students will be better teachers tomorrow.
I pray to be greater than my teachers and lectures.
I pray that my students will be greater than me.
God bless my students
God bless teachers
God bless me.
