Theresa May has announced her decision to quit her position as British Prime Minister.
Mrs May announced her decision on Friday 24th May 2019 that she will no longer be the leader of the ruling Conservative Party and Prime Minister on June 7.
Recall that Mrs May has been lobbying to get the support of British parliament to agree to her Brexit deal for the UK to quit the European Union.
Report said Mrs May has applauded herself saying “I had done my best” to honour the 2016 EU referendum result where Britons voted to leave the EU.
She therefore regretted that she could not succeed to deliver Brexit deal.
Mrs May who was the second female prime minister the country ever had after Margaret Thatcher added that it was “in the best interests of the country” to get a new prime minister.
May was under pressure to quit after a blacklash from her own members of parliement against her Brexit plan.
Her exit would pave the way for the ruling Conservative Party to choose a new leader who would assume office as prime minister in early July.
