A native of Mbakwen, Mabyoo in Nanev area of Kwande local government area of Benue state on Wednesday night strangled his 8-month-old daughter to death at midnight.
Various Facebook posts monitored by News Headquarter indicate that the father popularly known as Mr Dogo who resides opposite St. James Catholic Church, Aji in Adikpo confessed that while sleeping, he had a dream that a snake coiled around her daughter so he woke up and sprinkled holy water and anointing oil in the room and went back to sleep again.
A Facebook post by the Special Assistant on Media to the Chairman of Kwande local government are, Mr. Orkuma Adzua Ikyur Madah, who appear to be knowledgeable about the development said, the confession was voluntary.
“After going back to sleep, he again dreamed that the snake had already coiled her daughter and was about to swallow her as he woke up in the dream and hold the snake, strangled its neck and smashed it on the wall before he realized that it is her baby that is on the floor when she started crying.
“The wife too was aware of the first time he woke up sprinkled the holy water but at the last time, before she could notice what was going on, the baby was dead.
“The guy is someone that we are born in the same area and we have lived in the area together for over 3 decades. He is known to be a very calm and peaceful young man. The wife, the mother of the dead baby is my sister”, Madah posted.
As at the time of filing this report, he is reported to be in the Police net but not giving any other narrative aside from the initial one.
“He is in the police net but he has nothing to say more than this and there is a confirmation that he is mentally and spiritually okay. There is no quarry in the family too, the wife has affirmed”, Madah further informed.
However, commentators have expressed shock over, referring to it as a deadly spiritual attack.
“That’s was a strong spiritual attack it’s never intentional. Little did he know the second attack came with full force it was so strong that it get to mother first supposing the mother was awake she could have saved her lil baby but they first got to the mom. Nothing to do u people should sake the face of God in the family if not more might occured. Rip lil one”, Wan Aluna Agber said.
To Mercy Dugeri, “This is a manipulation by the devil. What he saw was a real snake and they actually made him to use his bare hands to kill it not knowing that it is his daughter. Devil is really trying. Anything that has to do in the physical is already manipulated by the devil in the spirit realm, take it or leave it. May angels welcome her home. Rip”.
James James opined as follows: “God of Mercy, the issue need proper investigation because things of the physical are treated physically. The Police should first detain him and carry out genuine investigation but he must receive the punishment meant for murderers.
You can’t dream and stand up to kill like that, people with anointing items are very terrible people”.
“This is a case of culpable homicide please. A thorough investigation is needed here to: ascertain Mr Dogo’s sanity; was he under the influence of drugs?; has he had a misunderstanding with the wife that he is emotionally depressed?; is he under threat by someone?
“These questions must be answered to know the ‘why’ and addressed accordingly. The spiritual snake story is what the security agents wouldn’t want to hear. May the Lord rest the baby’s soul and comfort the wife”.
Bridget Ule said, “Manipulated by the evil spirits. Mr Dogo that I used to know then can’t do such a thing”.
