The leadership of Ekiti Grassroots Movement, EGM has called on the Economic Financial Crime Commission, EFCC to be independent in its responsibility on the former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, calling on Nigerians to stand for the truth regardless of political affiliations and interest to guarantee a just society.
Speaking at Ikere Ekiti, after a warm reception of the former Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Adesuyi Alex condemned the EFCC for being bias in its responsibility since the inception of Buhari led-administration.
“One of the responsibilities of the Economic Financial Crime Commission is to prosecute crimes related to money laundering and anything related objectively.”
“We have seen of recent how the commission under the leadership of Mr. Magu has been witch-hunting members of the opposition on the order of All Progressive Congress and president Buhari, leaving its main objective as an embodiment”
“Nigerians are aware of how the former governor of Abia, Mr. Kalu, the former governor of Bayelsa, Timpry Sylva, former Minister of Defense, Mr. Obanikoro, the former governor of Akwa Ibom, Sen. Akpabio, former SFG, Babachir Lawal, among others looted their respective states without justice from the commission”
“We are not of the opinion that the EFCC should not investigate Fayose, but what is sort for the goose is sort for the gander”
“We charge the EFCC to investigate Dr. Fayose and charge him to court without any delay”, he said.
