Liverpool are still in high hopes of being crowned as champions of England even if the league is scrapped but no everyone supports that idea.
Former Reds John Barnes has suggested that there should be promotions and relegations -as should be in a regular season- and that the league must be finished regardless of how long they have to wait.
Liverpool have a near unassailable 25 point lead against second on the log Manchester City and while John Barnes was in the last Liverpool side to win the league some 30 years ago, he has prioritized the safety of football over handing his former club the title.
“Obviously you’re talking about big money, lots of money, but that’s to play matches,” he said in an interview on the Emma Barnett show.
“We’re not talking about that. We’re talking about when players can start to train safely, socially distancing.
“Either we say we’re never going to play again ever or we’re able to play, whether that’s a year, two years, whatever we decide, why can’t we then finish the nine games and then start the next season straight away? The players will have had three, four months, five months, six months off.”
