Insecurity: COAS tasks commanders for full implementation on presidential directive

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has directed all the Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOC) and Commanders to redouble their efforts in ensuring the effective and speedy implementation of Presidential directive in ending the insecurity in the country.

Recall that President Muhammad Buhari during his meeting with the Service Chiefs last week on the persisting insecurity challenges in the country, renewed his call and desire towards ending the insecurity challenges in the country.

Buratai, while meeting with the Principal Staff Officers and all the Commanders in Abuja, called on them to redouble their efforts to effectively, efficiently and most speedily mitigate the threats and all the security challenges in the country.

Briefing Newsmen on behalf of buratai immediately after the meeting, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col.Sagir Musa said, the Army Boss reiterated that the meeting was basically moment to changing the war narrative, time for action, and a wake up call in the efforts to combat Boko Haram terrorism and insurgency, banditry as well as the myriad of other security challenges across the country.

Gen Buratai also gave a matching order to the PSOs, GOCs and FCs for full implementation of Presidential order on ending all the terrorists activities, banditry and other associated security challenges across the country in no distant time.

“We have already commenced major reorganisation of our operations.

The Charge given to us by the Commander in Chief to redouble our efforts must be fully implemented.

“We must end this madness going on in some parts of the country.

“The criminals and their collaborators and sponsors must be exposed, flushed out and destroyed”. COAS stressed

Buratai further charged all Commanders to always be in the field to making sure all the operational activities are effectively and efficiently monitored and carried out as he also warned against complacency,failure and excuses.

“There is no time for complacency, no time for excuses and there will be no tolerance for shortcomings or failures, the situation must be reversed immediately”.

He however said, this year’s Nigerian Army Day Celebration which comes up in July will be shifted to Katsina State during which a major exercise codenamed Exercise Sahel Sanity will be conducted.
