Gunmen at the weekend killed an engineer from Agana in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Michael Ebirien-Agana.

It was gathered the assailants ambushed Ebirien-Agana at a bad spot along Igbo-Etche road while on his way home between 8:30pm and 9pm.

A good Samaritan was said to have rushed him to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “There is a place that is bad and usually flooded along the Igbo-Etche road. That was where they killed him. They shot him without taking anything from his car. They just went for his life. Maybe they are assassins.

“He was an engineer and a promising young man. Michael was a gentleman, very humble. He was one of those we were looking up to for leadership in Andoni local government. It is unfortunate that his life has been cut shot.”

The source said the late Ebirien-Agana, was an employee of Andoni local government, before he was transferred to Emuoha council, adding that his remains had been deposited at the mortuary of the Military Hospital in Port Harcourt.

When contacted, spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident.

He said: “Yes, he was killed. He was rushed taken to the military hospital where he finally died. Investigation is on to ascertain what happened.

“Also, all hands are on deck to ensure his killers’ arrest and ensure that they are brought to book”.
