Gov. Ortom tasks HYPADEC board on justice, fairness

By Jimin Geoffrey

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has charged the governing board of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPPADEC to ensure justice, equity and fairness in all their engagements.

The Governor spoke today at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi when the Board Chairman of HYPPADEC, Hon. Terfa Tyav and his delegation paid him a courtesy call.

He noted that as a young man who had aspired at various times to lead his people, the Chairman would deliver on his mandate to the nation, stressing that the wisdom of God was necessary for his success.

The Governor who congratulated Hon. Tyav and the entire membership of HYPPADEC board on their appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari, assured them of the support of Benue State Government to deliver on their mandate to the people.

Earlier, Hon. Tyav said HYPPADEC came into existence with a mandate to tackle ecological challenges occasioned by the overflow of dams from hydroelectric power areas, Benue State inclusive.

He stated that their responsibilities also include implementation of projects and programmes that would develop and address the challenges faced by communities affected by the overflow of hydroelectric power dams.

While soliciting the support of the Governor Ortom-led administration in the state, Hon. Tyav noted that the law establishing HYPPADEC also provides for an advisory committee with Governors of member states as members.
