The APC candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has expressed great sadness over the passing of His Royal Highness, Chief Lazarus Igbayima Unaha Adzua Kôkô.
Late Chief Unaha Kôkó who died on Tuesday, 17th May, 2022 was the traditional head of Iwarnyam, Shangev-Tiev, Konshisha Local government area of Benue State and the longest serving traditional ruler in Tiv land who lived a very productive life and represented the virtues of truth, service and honesty in his 50 years of reign.
While commiserating with the family and the people of Konshisha Local government, Fr. Alia acknowledged and paid tribute to the contributions of the revered Royal Father to the growth and development of traditional institution in the state.
He extended his prayers and sympathy to the Tiv Area Traditional Council, saying Chief Unaha Kôkó’s death robbed the Tiv nation of his rich and wise counsel, and created a huge vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
Fr. Alia who said Unaha Kôkó will long be remembered for his towering role and dedication in upholding and preserving the cultural values and tradition of the Tiv people, advised all traditional rulers to emulate the good deeds of the late patriarch.
He prayed God to give his family and his close associates the strength and courage to bear the sad loss.
