The ongoing reportage about rift between the duo of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Internal Affairs Minister,Rauf Aregbesola is linked to four main reasons, Sahel Standard can report.
- The plot against Governor Gboyega Oyetola- Lagos is reported to be unconfortable with persistent division in Osun state APC which was reportedly linked to an agenda to stop Oyetola’s second term bid. Forces loyal to the Minister are reported to be behind series of orchestrated plot designed to make Oyetola a one term governor.
- Between Tinubu and Vice President Osinbajo: The Minister is reputed to be a close ally of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who is reported to be eyeing the Presidency. The Vice President is noted to have a well oiled national caucus which believe he is the best as a successor to the incumbent. Because the Minister is a number one ally of Osinbajo, those close to Boudillon are sleeping with their eyes open as the Minister is pushing the Asiwaju Mandate Group. The fear is the group could serve a dual purpose at any time.
- New Power Centre: Attempts by the Minister to create a new power Centre around himself is creating suspicion among Tinubu close circles in Lagos. The leader they beleive should remain the Centre of operation except he personally directs otherwise. The Minister at the Centre is suspected of drifting away from the norms of the group.
- 2023 Ambition: Contrary to reports ,the Minister is not in troubled because of presidential ambitions but because of hiss scheming for the Senate in 2023. Plotting for 2023 when the leader has not issued directive is counted as a political sin.
Meanwhile, the Minister has nursing presidential ambition in 2023 or having any political disagreements with Tinubu.
Aregbesola also dismissed claims that he is at war with his leader and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He spoke in Abuja this afternoon. Ogbeni Aregbesola said his loyalty to Asiwaju is not only total, his commitment to whatever the leader wants is unwavering.
The minister revealed that he knew where the story was coming from and the identity of those sponsoring it. ‘Rift with Asiwaju Tinubu?
“Nothing can be more impossible! Nothing can be farther from the truth. I remain committed to my mentor,’ Aregbesola said, adding that “the group our detractors claim has been banned is the most committed to the realization of Asiwaju’s ambition.”
The minister continued: “They even said I have presidential ambition. False!” Aregbesola reiterated that the APC is one, adding that the party is like an oak tree that keeps growing. He said his focus and goal is to execute his ministerial duties as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari. In conclusion, he urged his supporters to ignore the publication in its entirety and refrain from being distracted from the goal of building a strong APC as well as a united Nigeria”
It was earlier reported Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had dissolved all political groups in the state following a cold war between him and Rauf Aregbesola, his associate.
The decision was announced at the meeting of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos on Tuesday afternoon. Aregbesola was accused of launching political groups in the state without the knowledge of Tinubu, who is regarded as the political leader.
