The minister of transportation Rt. Hon Rotimi Ameachi yesterday in a press conference in Abuja said that the President Muhammad Buhari’s led Government will deliver Lagos-Ibadan railway in December 2018.
“My joy and many more is that we will deliver Lagos -Ibadan railway by December.
This will play a pivotal role in the economy of the country and as well as attending to the yearning ease of passengers from one geographic area to the other with their bulk goods’ he said.
The minister also used the opportunity to debunk rumor circulating the social media on a bullet shot on one of the locomotives.
“The rumor about shots on our locomotives is not true, our locomotives are not bulletproofs and as such if it happens, there is no way that it wouldn’t pierces through and injure passengers. But we reffairm to Nigerians that nothing of such happened.”
He further seized the opportunity to speak with newsmen on the efforts of the federal government to making sure 14 coatches and 4 locomotives are availably on ground and activly in use.
While addressing the pressmen he urged Nigerians to believe in this government and support its vision for more visible dividends of democracy.
The interactive media session also witnessed the announcement of the retirement of the Director of Press in the Federal Ministry of Transportation, who was presented with gifts by the Protocol department and members of the Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association (ATACA).
