Nigerians have been encouraged to consume organically processed food to reduce the risk of ageing, diabetes, kidney failure, asthma, among other chronic diseases that are prevalent in the country.
The Managing Director of Ezey Foods, an agro based organic products in the country Dr. Marcel Eze, stated this at the unveiling of Ezey Foods in Abuja.
Dr. Eze said Nigerians are faced with prevalent health challenges that are largely caused by over dependent of the chemically preserved food in cans which has deteriorated the lives of the people.
“Foreign countries have moved from a traditional rural way of eating the chemically preserved foods in cans, Nigeria needs to key into it”, he said.
He added that the unveiling of the programme has ushered in a new era of healthy living in the country.
He also stressed that the programme will not only provide a platform for a healthier living but also employ and empower the teaming youths.
“I have written the proposal to the Federal Government seeking to engage the corp members in the programme to empower them and increase food production in the country”.
He further said to meet with the multilevel chain, he has involved the partnership of World Ventures, a South African owned company to help in the distribution of the products both locally and internationally.
He then promised to increase the food chain that is organically processed
to help curb the effect of the chronic diseases that are ravaging the Nigerian people.
Also speaking, the Programme Director of World Ventures Talita Van Wyk express delight on the opportunity given to her in partnering with Ezey Foods.
“My organisation will use the opportunity to ply the food in different chains both internationally and here in Nigeria where organic food is mostly needed.
She said making a good and viable relationship with various chains is the way to go.
“I think it’s very important to make a very good relationship with various chains, international food chains that will help to distribute the products internationally” Talita said.
Meanwhile, Mrs Ugoeze Grace Ezeife said consumption of organic food helps boost the immune system, makes the skin fresher amongst others benefits.
“Organic foods are safer, full of anti dioxins which helps to reduce the risk of chronic disease like cancer, asthma, kidney stone among others”, she said.
She further said Ezey food programme is a business value chain which involves raising the entrepreneurs while business opportunities are being created for hardworking Nigerians with several attached incentives.
