The Vice President of Venezuela, Aristibulo Almeida has pleaded with Nigeria and the international community to prevail on the United States to end attack and sanctions on his country.
Almeida made the appeal at the “Venezuela Solidarity Campaign on US Hands off Venezuela” in Abuja on Thursday.
He said US government had vowed to starve the people of Venezuela hence they melted out an economic war against Venezuela.
The Vice President described the coercive measures and systematic and conscious strategy of the US against Venezuela as a massive violation of human rights of the Venezuelan people.
The Cuba Ambassador to Nigeria , Mr Carlos Sosa , in his remarks said there was a need to rally support for Venezuela because the country ’s agitation against the US was a fight for all including African countries, vowed never to succumbed to US bit maintain their grounds.
He said Venezuela as a sovereign nation would want to protect its dignity against any external agenda.
Also speaking, the acting President of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Najeem Yasin condemned in strong terms the external aggression against Venezuela perpetrated by US government in their attempt to impose an anti people leadership in Venezuela.
Yasin said, NLC was committed in supporting the Venezuela’s struggle against external aggression of US and her possible interference.
Also contributing, the leader of the Venezuela Solidarity campaign group in Nigeria, comrade Sadare Oladimeji Macaulay called on Trump’s led US administration to stop the exploitation, inhuman treatment and application of unilateral coercive measures against a sovereign state like Venezuela which constitute a fragrant violation of international law.
Different countries were represented including Indonesia, Iran, Cuba, Algeria, Palestine, Mexico, Syria, Angola, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Namibia.
