Eid: Hon. Salam rejoices with Muslims, Calls for unity of purpose amongst all faithfuls

The Member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun State in the National Assembly, Representative Bamidele Salam has felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of the Id-el-Fitr which marks the end of the 30- day fasting period.

Salam said the Eid festival which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan is a time to harness all the benefits of the Islamic fasting which include self restraint, charity, purity and greater devotion to the tenets of Islam.

He reminded well to do Muslims of the need to observe the Zakatul fitr which is an act of giving to the poor as laid down by the Holy Prophet Muhammed ( Peace be on Him) to mark the end of the fasting period.

According to Rep. Salam, the bond between individuals, communities and Nations of the world and equality of humanity which the ramadhan fast entrenches must not be undermined by the current economic realities and social restrictions occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Eid, the lawmaker described the current slowdown in social and economic activities all over the world as a wakeup call for all Nations to acknowledge the sovereignty of the Almighty God and reflect on the need for greater cooperation in tackling common problems.

He also urged Islamic leaders to work together with leaders of other faiths to impress on governments especially in Africa on the need to build a more equitable socio-economic system that will lift people out of poverty and enhance peaceful coexistence of people of different cultures and faith.

Salam prayed that Allah will accept the prayers and supplications of the Muslim Ummah and grant everyone the grace to continue in the great lessons which were imbibed during the period of fasting.
