Nigerian Government says that Digital Technology is a tool for the economic diversification.
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami who made the disclosure in Abuja at a media parley said for Nigeria to aligned itself with global best practices it must embrace the digital economy.
“Many nations agitated for digital economy in Europe, countries like Scotland, Ceylon, Singapore and others and so it is better for us to also aligned with the best global practices”.
“If you look at the previous name of the ministry of communication and digital economy it is more exceptional because communication and the content that passes through the channel is in digital form and the focus of the content and communication is to promote your economy,” he said.
The Minister noted that the Federal government of Nigeria has tried to leverage on other sectors to see how it can diversify economy through ICT because the country has been relying so much on oil and gas.
“We continue to review an updated from time to time and we ensure that we develop the policy of strategy in a way that we will be able to actually assist our performance by coming up with key performance indicators that will always guide was whether we are on track or not whether we are making progress or not. And that is why after this briefing with you in the next few days.” He assured.
“We want to ensure that the final copy of the National Digital Economy Policy Strategy will be uploaded in our website so that each and every Nigerian will be able to download”.
