The Alumni Association of National Defence College (AANDEC) has distributed 4 sets of pedal operated hand cleansing facilities, Personal Protected Equipment (PPE) and other supporting materials to the National Defence College (NDC) in Abuja.
Presenting the items on behalf of the association, the AANDEC President, Maj. Gen. Garba Audu (Rtd) said, the presentation was part of efforts to assist the College to the fight against the novel corona virus ravaging the world, Nigeria inclusive.
Gen. Audu maintained that, the facilities will help in keeping the personal hygienic conditions of the college, staff and the visitors.
“At this period of corona virus, we thought it wise as members of the Alumni to give back to our Alma mater this equipments and the supporting materials.
“The reason is for at least supporting them in fighting the Covid- 19 in the college.
“The essence of these supporting materials and Pedal operated Hand Cleansing is to make sure that it checked people who are coming into the college instantly at the doorstep”. Audu stressed.
He said, the Alumni had benefited immensely from the college hence the need to reciprocate in contributing its quota to the college.
He further explained that, the hand sanitizers which were locally made is strictly operated using legs only.
“The Pedal Operated Hand Cleansing Facilities are operated by leg. All what is been done here is by, you use your leg to bring out the water and sanitizer entering the premises disinfected”. He explained.
Collecting the equipment on behalf of the college, the Commandant, National Defence College, Rear Admiral Mackson Kadiri thanked the AANDEC for the kind gesture and assured that the materials will be put to proper and good use.
He thanked the President and all the members of the Alumni for always identifying with the college and all its generous contribution as well as support to the college.
