The Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) has congratulated the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) for receiving a global recognition during the just concluded World Chambers Congress which took place in Rio De Jeneiro, Brazil. At the World Chambers Competition in Rio de Janeiro-Brazil, the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) capacity building arm known as Business Entrepreneurial Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre was adjudged out of 75 entries to be among the best five Chambers of Commerce on education projects in the world. In a congratulatory letter sent to the President of ACCI, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode which was signed by CIPE Country Director, Omowumi Gbadamosi, the chamber was commended for serving as the torch-bearer in the task of embarking on skills and vocational training of different sectors of the society. “Your chamber got recognised as the best Training and Education project at the World Chambers Congress (WCC) on Thursday, 13th June 2019. The award is noteworthy. “On behalf of CIPE, I wish you and your team the very best in the service of the chamber”, Gbadamosi stated. When contacted, the Provost of the ACCI BEST Centre, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, said that, “we are glad to have received the congratulatory message from such an important international organisation like CIPE. “This is very encouraging and my team led by the Director, Victoria Akai is further inspired to continue to give their best in the different education projects we shall be implementing to improve the capacity of not just our members, but also the different organisations operating within the Nigerian Economy”. Chamber Telegraph reports that BEST Centre was established by the ACCI with the main objective of operating a world-class learning centre for the development and improvement of entrepreneurship, technology and other vocational skills. It is a response to the massive skills gap and employability problem existing in Nigeria. BEST has signed several Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with notable institutions from across the world.
