
…ACCI thrown into mourning as condolences pours in

The death has occurred of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Vice President, Alhaji Sanusi Mai’jamaa Ajiya.
Until his sudden death this morning, Saturday, 28th December, 2019, Alhaji Mai’jamaa was the NACCIMA Vice President in charge of Membership.
He also held the title of Dallatun Bauchi.
In the condolence message, the President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, CON., SAN described the death as not just a loss to the family but the entire Organised Private Sector (OPS) in particular and the nation in general.
He condoled and consoled the family over the irreparable loss and prayed God to comfort the family, circle of friends, well wishers and associates.
“I have worked closely with Alhaji Mai’jamaa for over two decades and I can say, I am personally touched by his sudden demise.
“He was a man of honor, an intellectual juggernaut and a humanist with a Midas touch. He was a quintessential icon, a seasoned administrator with top-notch managerial skills set, a man with outstanding understanding and a role model and mentor to a large number of young people.
“Alhaji Sanusi Maijamaa Ajiya has proven himself to be a man of charisma who stuck out his neck for whichever course he believed in. The entire OPS has reckoned him as a man of courage who has zero tolerance for ineffectiveness, a seasoned intellectual with passion for continental development, a noble champion who is not only known for effective service delivery but one who campaigns for it.
“He was indeed a patriotic Nigerian, a benevolent statesman who is ideologically focused in nation building through his economics prowess, intellectual guidance”, Prince Kayode maintained.
On his part, the NACCIMA National Legal Adviser said in a state of shock also extolled the leadership and managerial acumen of the late Mai’jamaa describing him as a man who came, saw, fought and conquered.
“With my knowledge of Alhaji Mai’jamaa, I can simply say we have all lost a rare gem. He was focused, straightforward, determined and resilient in carrying out every assignment or cause he believed in.
“He approached his duties with a deep sense of patriotism, commitment, zeal and zest that made him an outstanding personality among his peers.
“While holding office as the President of National Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), he ensured that those in positions of authority improved on the lots of his members. He equally moved the association to a height that was not envisaged by industry watchers.
“In NACCIMA, I worked with him in several committees most of which he chaired including during which he demonstrated an unrivalled commitment to the overall development of the OPS as his contribution towards national economic development. He was a man of his words. We will miss him dearly”, Prof. Adesugba pointed out.
Meanwhile, the Second Deputy President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu has also described the late Mai’jamaa as a man who created maximum impact to the society.
“I am saddened by this death. While I stand with the family in this moment of grief, it is equally my belief that he is in the bosom of the Lord. He was a good man who worked with everyone without any primordial consideration.
“He chose to go beyond physical boundaries and stretched hands of fellowship and commitment to the collective good of the people. By doing this, he supported and pushed all whom he came across to success, Chief Obegolu stressed.
Below is brief biography of late Mai’jamaa:
Sanusi Maijama’a Ajiya was born on Sptember 28th, 1953 in the family of Ajiyan Bauchi, After accomplishing his early education in Bauchi and Kaduna between 1962 to 1973 he opted for family business and other challenges of his future as follows:
He joined Bauchi Local Authority 1n 1974 and held the position of Senior Librarian and in 1976 he joined the family business with ADIL Industries Limited Maiduguri as Manager, he was transferred to Nigeria Iron & Wood Factory Limited, Kano as Director/Sales Manager between 1976-1980. In 1980 he joined Yankari Construction Limited, Bauchi as Director.
Alh. Sanusi Maijama’a is the Chairman/CEO Maijama’a International Limited and Chairman Board of Directors, Maijama’a Mining Company Limited.
In 1993 he was appointed member Board of Directors in Manto Processing Company Limited Kumo by Bauchi State Government and between 1993-2001 he became Chairman Audi Committee of Inland Bank Plc, he is also a Director at Garu Microfinance Bank Limited Bauchi from 1993 to date. Chairman NEPA Bauchi District (CCC) Customer Consultative Council 1995, the same year he became member, Advisory Board Pilot Junior Secondary School, Bauchi.
Alh. Sanusi Maijama’a Ajiya became the First Managing Director of Bauchi Cable Satellite Limited, Chairman News Hours Communication Magazine, Director Wood Field Nigeria Limited Kaduna 1996-2000.
Between1997-2003 he held the position of Chairman Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialist (NASSI), Bauchi State Chapter. He is the President Nigerian Shareholders Association Bauchi State Chapter between 2000-2008.
Alhaji Sanusi in 2002-2010 became Council Member Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) and Director, NEXPORTRADE Houses Ltd Lagos. Chairman Board of Directors NEXPORTRADE Houses Incorporated, Monrovia, Liberia. Between 2003-2011 Sanusi was elected and served as National President, Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI) and served for 8 years.
Alhaji Sanusi Maijama’a Ajiya served as Member Governing Board in so many other institutions at different positions, among which are Raw Material Research & Development Council, Bauchi Investment Corporation, First Chairman Bauchi Fertilizer Company Limited, SMEDAN, NASENI, VISION 20-20:20, leagues of friends Committee ATBUTH.
Maijama’a was between 2009-2010 became Vice Chairman Interim Council of the Federation of West African Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FEWACCI). While in 2010 also became Vice Chairman Pan African Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PACCI) Adis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He was between 2007-2011 elected President, Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (BACCIMA). Sanusi Maijama’a was recently appointed Member Governing Board Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and Chairman, Conference of the Northern States Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCCIMA).
Alhaji Sanusi also attended several Training, workshops and Seminars within and outside Nigeria.
He also served in many presidential, Ministerial ad-hoc committees of the Federal Government of Nigeria, ECOWAS and African Union (AU).
Alhaji Sanusi Maijama’a Ajiya is happily married with children and grand children.
