As the year 2023 approaches and intending aspirants for Benue number one seat girdle up to join the race, Hon. Joe Ephraim Nongoh, a former Chairmanship contender for Logo Local Government Council has deemed Hon. Benjamin Bemsen Dzoho as the most appropriate person to wear the cap based on his track records.
Hon. Nongoh argued that 2023 Governorship is for Kwande, the ancestral home of the Tiv nation and he has beamed his searchlight on Hon. Bemsen Dzoho who has distinguished himself in all the public positions he has occupied and his Educational background is without stain.
At this juncture, it is apt for the public to know Bem Dzoho who is no doubt a household name in Benue state.
Hon. Benjamin Bemsen Dzoho aged 58 was born on 9th August, 1962 in Kendev-Turan, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
Hon. Bem Dzoho started school at NKST Primary School, Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State in 1970 and obtained First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1976. He further proceeded to Government College, Itobe in Kogi State but later transferred in 1979 to Tofi Memorial Grammar School, Gboko in Benue State where he passed out in 1981 with WASC/GCE O’Level Certificate.
Hon. Bem Dzoho’s quest for higher education took him to Britain in 1982 on Government Scholarship to study at Bournemouth and Poole Polytechnic, Dorset, Britain where he obtained Diploma in Travel and Tourism in 1983 and Higher National Diploma in Public Administration in 1985 at Bournemouth University, Britain.
On return to Nigeria, Hon. Bem Dzoho undertook NYSC in Akure Local Government Area of Ondo State in 1986/87 Service Year before gaining employment with National Orientation Agency, Benue State in 1988 where he worked variously for 9 years as Admin. Officer II, PA to State Director, Social Mobilization Officer for Kwande/Ushongo Local Government Areas as well as Senior Personnel Officer before voluntarily resigning in 1997 to go into Partisan Politics.
Hon. Bem Dzoho won election into Benue State House of Assembly in 1999 to represent Kwande East Constituency in the 4th Benue Assembly (1999 – 2003) and was the 1st Minority Leader of that Assembly. In 2007/2008, he also served as Chief of Staff to the Hon. Speaker of 7th Benue Assembly. In 2008, Hon. Bem Dzoho was elected State Secretary, Peoples Democratic Party, Benue State Chapter where he served for 2 terms of office between 2008 – 2016.
Hon. Bem Dzoho’s zeal for Academic Excellence took him to Benue State University, Makuri where he graduated with Advanced Diploma in Personnel Management (1996): Masters Degree in Public Administration, MPA (2002); M.Sc Degree in Public Administration (2016) and currently Ph.D Student and Teaching Assistant in Political Science since 2016. He also holds Membership of several professional bodies including Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM, 2006).
Hon. Bem Dzoho is a devout Christian of NKST faith and is married with 4 children. He is currently serving as Elder of NKST Church, Asen, High Level Classis, Makurdi.
Hon. Bem Dzhoh was on 12th September, 2019 appointed Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Political Affairs and Inter-Party Relations. A position he currently holds in the Benue State Government of Nigeria.
From the above profile of Hon. Bem Zoho, it is indisputable that he is qualified by all standards to pilot the affairs of Benue state as the next Executive Governor having acquired adequate administrative experience.
