Citizens Awareness Against Corruption and Social Vices Initiative (CAACASVI) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the numerous achievements recorded by his administration in the fight against corruption.
In marking this year anti corruption day, the Executive Directors of the organisation Comrade Olumuyiwa Onlede in a press conference also commended the effort of the acting chairman of Economic and Financial crime commission (EFCC) for standing firm and prosecuting the war against graft holistically in the face of distractions from different elites who see corrupt practices as an enterprise and a way of life.
There is no gainsaying that from 2015 when the present administration took over the affairs of this nation till date things has never been the same. EFCC has been able to secure numerous convictions and notably three of whom were ex governors, recovery of looted funds to the tune of billions, fixed assets and properties in hundreds.
This is a success story that lovers of Nigeria must recon with and also encourage the president of federal republic of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari and EFCC through the acting chairman Ibrahim Magu so as for them to do more, because more needed to be done even in area of systemic corruption, as we all know that corruption is fighting back but both anti graft agencies, civil societies organisations and the citizens must be in one accord lend their voices and support to the war against corruption if Nigeria must attain her place and pride among committee of nations.
As we all know that In the past, critical infrastructures were at the lowest ebb due to the fact that funds appropriated and released for such usually find their way into private pockets.
History has told us that no nation can grow economically with such scenario unless we want to deceive ourselves with voodoo economics. Countries like China, Singapore, and even our neighbour Ghana were able to attain their present status of great and growing nation due to anti corruption fight.
The chairman of CAACASVI, Comrade Danesi Momoh also speaking appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to consolidate the solid foundation that is being laid for anti corruption war in Nigeria by sending the name of the acting chairman of EFCC Ibrahim Magu to senate for confirmation as the substantive chairman so as for him to settle down and consolidate the achievements that he has recorded so far.
CAACASVI also want to use this medium to reiterate her stand that the war against graft is not short of enemies even within political office holders in the present administration, such individuals are waiting for any opportunity to derail the war against corruption if a chairman without requisite sagacity is enthroned in EFCC. There is no gain saying thatIbrahim Magu has distinguished himself with the record of achievement as capable of leading the war against corruption in full capacity as chairman of EFCC.
Our resolve to support holistic war against graft has not changed as we are determined to render support within our mandate to save Nigeria from the few that has held our nation captive and ran down the economy in the past.
A new Nigeria that we all desire can only be achieved in our lifetime if we eschew corruption and do things differently from the past. We urge the senate of the federal republic of Nigeria to support the present administration anti corruption war and see things differently from their predecessor and give Ibrahim Magu speedy confirmation if the president decides re-nominate and forward his name to the red chamber.
