Incidents of hacking into peoples social media accounts and using same to blackmail the owners and as well defraud their unsuspecting friends have skyrocketed in Benue State in recent times and unfortunately many Benue youths are engaged in this criminal act too.
Some of these criminal hack elements who are known to many of us have even earned prominence for engaging in these nefarious acts and have commanded undue respect from people for fear that they might be victims of their inordinate conduct.
Yesterday, one Wilfred Ipeven was nabbed in Taraku, Gwer East Local Government and paraded by the Nigerian Police in Makurdi, Benue State having hacked into a top politician’s Facebook Account. He confessed to using the pseudonym, Cyprus Faasema who is based in Indonesia to blackmail and defraud many.
With his arrest, the 200 Level Student of the Faculty of Law, Benue State University will face criminal prosecution and will certainly have his school authorities to contend with when school resumes.
In the nutshell, the act of hacking into peoples accounts we all know is criminal and the Benue State Police Command has turned its eyes towards it. Benue youths who engage in it must desist forthwith as informants have also been engaged to help track down perpetrators. The consequences you may better appreciate when you persist and you’re caught.
