The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has been thrown into a jubilation mood as its Second Deputy President, Chief Emeka Obegolu has emerged as the President of the Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU).
Chief Emeka J. P. Obegolu, FICMC, FCIArb (UK) is also a former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Before his election, Chief Obegolu was the Vice President of PALU.
Chief Emeka J. P. Obegolu is currently the president of Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC).
Early on February, 2018, he was appointed the Chairman of the Governing Council of Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Dispute Resolution Centre and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Centre as well by the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (ACCI) Prince Adetokunbo Adeyinka Kayode (CON, SAN, FCIArb).
The Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) is a continental membership forum for African lawyers and lawyers’ associations. PALU was founded in 2002, by African Bar leaders and eminent lawyers, to reflect the aspirations and concerns of the African people and to promote and defend their shared interests. It brings together the continent’s five regional lawyers’ associations, over fifty-four national lawyers’ associations and over 500 lawyers.
Prince Kayode described the appointment as, “not just timely but also befitting of the character, nature and professional competence of my dear brother, Chief Emeka Obegolu”.
In his contribution, Prof Adesoji Adesugba, the Vice President of the Chamber responsible for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) who also doubles as the Provost of its training arm known as the Business Entrepreneurial Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre stated that, “I am not surprised at this great feat achieved by our dear Emeka, and this is just a part of greater achievements yet to come.
“On behalf of the Faculty board of Best centre I heartily congratulate the new president of PALU, we at the Chamber are confident that Chief Obegolu’s tenure at PALU will witness a lot of positive achievements”.
