The Federal Government has announced burial arrangements for the late Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ufot Joseph Ekaette with the interment scheduled for Saturday, November 14.
The final journey of the longest serving SGF will begin on Monday with the Service of Songs and Night of Tributes at the Abuja International Conference Centre.
In the announcement personally signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the body of the late Ekaette will depart Abuja to Uyo via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday, December 10. This will be after the Commendation Service at the Cathedral Church Advent
the Church of Nigeria Anglican Diocese, Life Camp.
On arrival in Uyo, the body will lay in state at the Akwa Ibom Judiciary Auditorium and later the Banquet Hall of the Governor’s Office for the Valedictory Executive Council Session.
His body will thereafter leave Uyo for Ikot Edor, Onna Local Government Area after the Commendation Service at the All Saints, The Anglican Church, Brooks Street.
On Friday, December 13 there will be the
Service of Songs at the deceased compound with the funeral service scheduled to hold at the St. Joseph’s Anglican Church, Ikot Edor before the Interment
Aged 80, the late Ufot Joseph Ekaette who served as SGF between May 1999 and 2007 was also a retired Federal Permanent Secretary and the pioneer Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs died on September 25. The economist, administrator and politician held the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR).
