Senators George Akume of Benue state and Godswill Akpabio of Akwa ibom state has formed part of the new list of ministers submitted to the national assembly by president Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday 23rd July, 2019.

The list was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan after a 20 minutes closed door session during today’s plenary. The nomination was in accordance with 147(2)of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Other fresh blood that joined Akume and Akpabio on the list include;

43 names make up the new list, a number which is higher than that of the one submitted in 2015.

Some of the former ministers like Audu Ogbe, Abdulaman Danbazzau, Solomon Dalong and others did not return as the ministers.

Some states like Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Kwara, Edo has gotten two nominees each while the remaining 33 states have one nominee each.

Only 7 women which represents 16 percent made up the list which means that women are still lacking behind in the APC led government headed by President Buhari despite their nominal strength and their active role in the reelection of President muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential elections.
