The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has held a one day workshop aimed at preventing and countering violent extremism and other related security challenges in the country.
Speaking at the opening of the event, NSCDC Commandant -General Abdullahi Muhammadu in his opening speech stressed the importance of initiating an adequate conflict prevention and response system to address the underlying and emergent conditions driving violent extremism in the country, especially in the North East.
He further emphasized on building humanitarian support for victims of violent extremism.
Other speakers at the workshop, suggested several other means of tackling violent extremism in the country
Participants at the workshop included Security personnel, civil society organisations and the media.
