The 2018 Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) which ended on 10th October, 2018 has excited the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (NACCIMA), Iyalode Alaba Lawson.
Iyalode Lawson who spoke at the official closing ceremony of the Fair expressed satisfaction with the outing describing it as on of the best in recent times.
“I am particularly happy that this Fair has ended on a very good note. Exhibitors, inventors, visitors, service providers, government functionaries among several other players in the economy found a common ground in which they discussed modern trends in their areas of interests and also built enduring networks.
“It is sad to me that this Fair has ended when participants are still feeling reluctant to leave even as whatever has a beginning equally has an ending.
“Of particular importance to me is the declaration by the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Muhammad Musa Bello that the ACCI facilities would be used for all commercial activities holding in Abuja. I can’t wait to see this happen”, Iyalode Lawson emphasised.
In his speech, the President of the Chamber, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, CON., SAN represented by the First Deputy President, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Al-Mujataba said he was fulfilled that the 2018 Fair satisfied the expectations of the exhibitors, visitors and service providers.
He seized the opportunity to thank all the participants and partners for believing in the chamber and promised to justify the confidence reposed in the organisation.
According to him, the monumental progress made under the present administration of the Chamber as regards putting in place legacy projects or structures would not have been possible if energy, drive, focus and unity of purpose from all the strata of the chamber was not effectively harnessed.
In his contribution, the former President of the Chamber, Engr. Solomon Nyagba who also expressed satisfaction with the outcome and effect of the 2018 Fair to the overall development of Nigeria’s economy said, such efforts will be maintained.
Engr. Nyagba thanked the present administration for building on the foundation laid by the earlier ones and also called on the Organised Private Sector (OPS) to continue with the pivotal role it is playing in accelerating and adding impetus to the overall growth of the economy.
Other speakers at the event including Vice President Media of the Chamber, Chief Jude Igwe and Director General, Chief (Mrs) Tonia Shoyele congratulated award recipients for their outstanding appearance and adding colours to the Fair while it lasted.
Meanwhile, a cross section of exhibitors who participated in the Fair have expressed willingness to feature in subsequent ones owing to what they described as “immense benefits accruing from it”.
